Tyler ISD, in partnership with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra (ETSO), hosted Carnegie Hallโs Link-Up at Tyler High Schoolโs theatre on February 14 and 15. All Tyler ISD 4th and 5th-grade students performed with their voices and recorders from their seats. This unique experience gives students the opportunity to perform with ETSO and exposes them to instrumental curriculum.
โLink Up is such an incredible opportunity for our students to perform alongside the East Texas Symphony Orchestra,โ ETSO Executive Director Robin Hampton said. โIt is such a joy to see students making music and memories that will last a lifetime. The music curriculum is part of Carnegie Hallโs Link-Up program, immersing students in an amazing instrumental music experience. Thank you, Tyler ISD, and Lead Elementary Music Teacher Kristin Pool, for hosting the โOrchestra Singsโ concerts!โ
Tyler ISD Link Up District Choir and Recorder Choir, Boulter Middle School, Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, Caldwell Arts Academy, and Three Lakes Middle School Orchestra students, student actors from Caldwell, and the Tyler High Drumline were all on stage with the ETSO.
Pool said more than 3,200 students from Tyler ISD and surrounding schools participated in the two-day event, and thatโs not including the musicians and volunteers who helped make the concerts happen.
