Congratulations to Jessica Mejia, a 4th grade student at Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month for May.
Demonstrating remarkable dedication to her education, Jessica sets and meets both short- and long-term goals with impressive consistency. Her responsibility for her own learning is evident in her recent achievement of scoring her first 100 on a benchmark test, a testament to her hard work and determination.
Jessicaโs excellent attendance record and respectful demeanor towards teachers, school personnel, and fellow students further highlight her exemplary character. Her journey from kindergarten to the present day is truly inspiring. Moving to Texas from Honduras at a young age with only a limited grasp of English, Jessica has not only become fluent in both English and Spanish but also excels academically in her subjects.
Jessica's story is one of resilience and achievement. Her ability to overcome language barriers and thrive in her new environment showcases her unwavering determination and adaptability. As a role model to her peers, Jessicaโs respectful attitude and strong work ethic make her a deserving recipient of this honor.
Jessicaโs accomplishments reflect her commitment to excellence and serve as an inspiration to all students at Tyler ISD.
The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
