To wrap up their unit on physical properties of matter, students at Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School participated in an exciting hands-on activity, constructing density tubes. This project allowed students to apply their knowledge of density in a creative and practical way, utilizing mineral oil, water, and glitter to design unique tubes that demonstrated the principles they had been studying.
Each student carefully layered the materials to explore how different substances interact based on their density. The activity not only reinforced their understanding of density but also sparked curiosity and engagement, making science both fun and educational.
The successful execution of this project was made possible by the generous support of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), who supplied all the necessary materials for the activity.
Through this interactive lesson, students were able to see scientific concepts come to life, deepening their understanding of the physical properties of matter. The density tube activity was a perfect conclusion to the unit, highlighting the importance of hands-on learning in fostering a love for science.
The school looks forward to more enriching activities like this, continuing to build a collaborative community of students, teachers, and parents.
